These soup mugs arrived in a set of four, which is perfect because the youngest member of our family rarely eats soup, and when he does he needs a plastic bowl, since he is only three. I love that the mugs are dishwasher and microwave safe because in a busy household, the easier life is the happier life. The simple basic vintage design of these soup bowls is so pretty. The neutral color allows them to go with just about any kitchen decor so you don't have to worry too much that they won't match. These mugs also stack nicely inside each other so that they only take up two spots in the cabinet, helping to keep the cabinets neat and organize. Also they are 20 ounces, the perfect size for a bowl of soup on a cold winter day.
We used ours on Friday night when we made grilled cheese and tomato soup, and they held just the right amount of soup for everyone. We even had room in the mug to add our favorite crackers or dip our grilled cheese in. I have never used a "soup mug" before and had never given much thought to the difference between that and a soup bowl. However, as I watched the kids get near the end of their soup, they simply picked up the handle of the mug and sipped. This design allowed for them to easily finish their soup completely without a mess on the table or their shirts. This is another fine product from Francois et Mimi (see my other review here). I hope that I have opportunity to purchase a set of these for a housewarming gift sometime in the future because, they would be the perfect addition to a new home.
