Little Miss Crafty: Clay Charms by Klutz make for great crafting with kids!

Clay Charms by Klutz

Today, the oldest - and only girl - in my house decided it was time to break out the clay charm book she got for Christmas. This kit, Clay Charms by Klutz, comes with supplies and directions to make what appear to be some really adorable charms.

What's Included in the Kit:
  • Clay
  • Instruction Book
  • Shaping tool
  • Gloss
  • Charm hooks
  • Charm Bracelet
  • Jump rings

After reading the very easy to follow directions, we were all set to make our first clay charm! We setup our work area and started on an adorable little cat. One of the things I did take note of in the instruction book was that it says, "Don't worry if your charm doesn't look exactly like the pictures in this book; every charm is different." That is like a challenge to a crafter! Anyway, we proceeded with our attempt to make the cat charm.

We added a collar

We created the charm and then it was off to the oven for 20 min. to bake at 250 degrees. After the 20 minutes, you simply take a permanent black marker and draw the eyes and whiskers on!

Overall, this project was fun and we had a good time making the charm. I do think, with practice, my daughter will be able to create the charms all on her own if she follows the directions. There are very easy to follow pictures to determine the size of the "balls" you need to make for each piece and you can hold them up to the instruction book to make sure you are on track.

There are a few supplies not included that you will need in the house to make the charms:
  • Black permanent marker
  • Paper Clips
  • Oven
  • Tin foil
  • Wax paper
