Wantable Accessories Collection Review: April 2015

It's that time again - time for the Wantable Accessories Collection! This was a solid collection. Not my favorite, but not bad, either. There wasn't a great deal of variety, but I do tend to like necklaces more than anything so that makes sense.

I received three necklaces this month, along with a pair of earrings. When I first opened the earrings, I was concerned because I don't usually like hoops and I didn't include them on my survey. However, these aren't hoops, but dangling circles. I really like these because they're delicate while also being stylish and unique.

Wantable Accessories Collection: March 2015 #2

So Wantable did such an amazing job handling the issue I had with my last accessories collection that I decided to order a second one. I have to say that two of these items may be some of my favorites yet and the others are also very nice! I really am so impressed by Wantable Accessories time and time again (I haven't had as much luck with Intimates, but that's okay).

My first item was a light pink scarf with blue and it's such a nice spring scarf. It may be a bit too pastel for me, but Wantable has been great about pushing me just to the edge of my comfort zone for styles only to make me realize how much I end up loving the item after all! I feel like that may be the case with this scarf, so we shall see!

Wantable Accessories Review: March 2015 (#1)

As we have made clear, we are big fans of Wantable here at Outside the Box. We have found they do an exceptional job of matching items and even when the items don't work, they are responsive and make the process of returning easy.

For me, another sign of a company's ethics and value is how they handle mistakes. Although I am sad to report that I had a pretty major issue with my collection this month, I can also say that I rarely see customer service this prompt and helpful - and that makes me even more enthusiastic about Wantable.

I was SO excited when I opened this box, because at the top was a sealed card containing a personalized note, and I was very impressed by that. In addition, I could see the list of items on my card before I opened them and I saw that a watch was included! I have been hoping for a watch, so I even said to my husband that I finally got a watch.

Before we get to the watch, let's go through the rest of the box. I did keep this box with the one exception I will address momentarily, but my least favorite item that I kept was this bracelet. It's a bit too big for me. I'm really picky, though, because my other Wantable bracelet was too small/delicate, so finding a balance is a challenge. I like everything else about this bracelet, though, especially the way it clasps, but I just wish it was about half the size.

Fandom of the Month Review: February 2015 (Divergent/Star Wars)

I can't believe I didn't know about Fandom of the Month Club earlier! This is a geeky subscription service that includes jewelry each month from different fandoms. Past examples have included Lord of the Rings, The Hunger Games, and Harry Potter

So I signed up as soon as I heard about this, because for under $15 a month, who doesn't want three geeky jewelry pieces in a collectible bag?! Almost immediately upon signing up, the theme for February was announced - it was going to be Divergent

Fair Ivy Review: March 2015

Fair Ivy is a subscription for women that includes a monthly hand-crafted surprise. These are often jewelry or something personal and because everything is handmade, Fair Ivy limits subscriptions. You have to sign up for their mailing list and then they will open subscriptions a couple times a month if there are openings.

This month's artisan is Amanda Deer Jewelry. This is described as "cute and dainty jewelry" so I knew before opening the box that it would be unlikely to be something I would personally enjoy. Those who know me well know that if there are two words that are antithetical to my existence, they are cute and dainty.

Crafty's Rainbow Loom Bracelet Creations

First attempt
A month or so back, Boxy sent me a picture of a Rainbow Loom Steampunk bracelet that she really liked. I tried to find a tutorial that I could use to make it because I am not great at making my own designs. Well, just last week the creator put out a tutorial on YouTube.

Loom all set up and ready
Artisan Loom is responsible for the design, as well as the tutorial. However, I played around with the colors and charms a bit. The first one I made I wasn't sure I loved. The beads within the flowers were too big and the flowers were too close to the charm. Although Boxy said it was nice, I just wasn't happy with it. Ultimately it would be hers and if she liked it, I could have stopped there and mailed it to her. However, I really wanted her to LOVE it. To me, this version was just "meh" and that wouldn't cut it.

So I tried again and had a few runs with bands breaking and trouble getting the pattern right. After I tried two more times, I completed one today. Right away, I sent a picture to Boxy, who was very pleased. Instead of "it's nice," I got "that is awesome." This made me very happy because I wanted it to be perfect for her. I always love making things for other people.

Wantable Accessories Review: February 2015 #2

I really like Wantable and I've been so happy with their collections that every time I get one, I am tempted to order another right away! I am going to wait to get a March one rather than ordering a third February collection, though.

For my preferences, I try to change them a bit for each order, since I don't want to get sunglasses more than a couple times a year or too many hair accessories. I am basically always happy with jewelry and scarves, and my boxes are heavily necklace-based, because I love long necklaces.

Bracelet Bundle Review: February 2015

Bracelet Bundle is a monthly subscription of two wrap bracelets. The bracelets come in a sheer drawstring bag and are a surprise each month, based on current styles. You also, as a subscriber, earn access to a members-only shop to order more of a style you like or one you haven't seen in your boxes that you would like to try.

I'm not a big bracelet wearer, but I wanted to try these out and we were given a discount code for review. The shipping was extremely fast and the bracelets came wrapped nicely with a business card to contact the business owner with any issues (I didn't have any, of course).

Wantable Accessories Review: February 2015

How does Wantable do it?! I'm a really picky shopper, especially when it comes to "girly" things like makeup and jewelry and clothes. I also tend not to like the things a lot of other people like, so I find myself struggling to find things. This is my second Accessories collection from Wantable and I really cannot believe how spot on they've been both times!

The first item was a pair of sunglasses. Although I usually wear prescription glasses, I included sunglasses on this survey because I was open to a pair. These are cute and definitely my style, even if I won't wear them much.

Cate & Chloe Review: February 2015

Cate & Chloe is a jewelry subscription service that provides you with 2-3 items each month valued at $200 or more. This is not a customized service, although there is a survey, and you appear to receive the same pieces as other subscribers, which will range from necklaces to earrings, bracelets, and rings. VIP members are supposed to get a welcome gift, too, which may have been included in this box, but I'm not sure.

Wantable Accessories Review: January 2015

Let's be up front here: I am not a fashion diva. I don't care at all about fashion and beauty and accessories. I would much rather spend my money on video games and action figures than jewelry. My favorite outfit is my zombie slippers complete with loose eyeballs, fleece pajama pants, and a giant T-shirt that could easily pass as a nightshirt. When I have to be presentable, I'm all about comfort and simplicity. I don't think I've ever owned a pair of heels (although I love shoes - just ones that keep my feet on the ground).

So I wanted to try Wantable, and I considered Intimates. However, I spend too much money on socks and pjs and don't have much room left for anymore. Besides, Crafty wanted to try them, so I thought I would try something else. I actually do really like jewelry, but again, I'm really not interested in most of what's trendy or what I see in magazines - it's just not my style and feels like too much work. I say this because I admit I went into this process wary. I filled out my form, but I just didn't think I anyone could find four items I would like. I've seen so many unboxings and I don't like any of the items I have seen. Because Wantable is supposedly customized, though, and you can return your items if you hate them, I figured it was worth experimenting at least.

The box came and I said to my husband, "My stylist was Joey. Let's see how this goes." Well, once I went through the box, I was a convert and my husband commented, "Looks like Joey knows his or her stuff." I agree. Joey has me pegged, so hats off to Wantable. These are easily items I would pick out if I was in a store.
