The Game of Baloney Board Game Review

The Game of Baloney was one of our games from our Awesome Pack back in January, but we just got around to trying it. It's really designed as more of a party game so since there are only two of us, we put it off for a bit to play games better suited for just us. You can play The Game of Baloney with two people, but it's better with a group.

This is a fun game that basically tests your knowledge, as well as your ability to lie. You are given a fact and then there are three add-on details. One is true, one is a lie, and one is an outrageous lie. You read one aloud and people need to guess if you're telling the truth or lying. There is a whole betting system, too, but since it was just the two of us, we actually skipped the board and betting and just guessed to see who would get the most cards first.

Fair Ivy Review: March 2015

Fair Ivy is a subscription for women that includes a monthly hand-crafted surprise. These are often jewelry or something personal and because everything is handmade, Fair Ivy limits subscriptions. You have to sign up for their mailing list and then they will open subscriptions a couple times a month if there are openings.

This month's artisan is Amanda Deer Jewelry. This is described as "cute and dainty jewelry" so I knew before opening the box that it would be unlikely to be something I would personally enjoy. Those who know me well know that if there are two words that are antithetical to my existence, they are cute and dainty. 

Graze Box Review: March 18

I'm really enjoying the double boxes from Graze now and I truly feel they get my tastes for the most part (now that I've said that, I will get something weird next time).

There were only a few repeats and one was popcorn, which is always nice. Our top layer had the popcorn, Cocoa and Vanilla Protein Flapjack, Caramel Apple, and Natural Energy Nuts.

Hatchery Tasting Box Review: February 2015

Hatchery's Tasting Box is a little treat in the mailbox every month. This is a subscription box that sends you five samples of various cooking products or ingredients from small artisans around the country. There's always a good deal of variety, plus it's fun to try new things. Hatchery also has an online store so you can buy full sized versions of anything you end up loving. 

One thing I've noticed about this box is how well packaged it is. Some of the containers are glass (although most are plastic), but my items have come securely packaged and I (knock on wood) haven't had leaks yet. Everything is stored in the box securely, as well as individually wrapped. I also like that, unless you read the booklet first, it's sort of like opening a series of presents each month.

Crafty Travels to Space with Space Scouts

Roxy and Jett have landed in our home! This time of year, the kids are always so busy with sports and activities, but come summer, they're bored so I love sampling activity packs for them to try. It allows me to see what they enjoy and also start a list of things we can do for the summer. When we were given a chance to review Space Scouts, I was thrilled!

Space Scouts and Animal Trackers Club are offered by the same company, although they target different two age groups. Space Scouts is for children ages 6+, while Animal Trackers is for kids ages 3+. Obviously the older kids can enjoy both, but it's good to have a sense of what to expect.

Btipsy Lemon Squeezer Review

I suppose it's fairly ridiculous to complain about the effort involved in squeezing a lemon or orange, but I also admit that I always like options that make anything easier. When I was offered a Btipsy Lemon Squeezer for review, I definitely wanted to try it. I use lemons and oranges enough in baking that I figured it would be helpful. I also know that this probably gets more juice out that I do from my mangling of the fruit. 

Indie Craft Sampler Review: March 2015

I really enjoyed my Indie Craft Sampler from February, so I was excited when this came. I admit I was a little disappointed in this month's but mostly because the items just didn't work for me personally in the same way. They were more, obviously, crafty items, but in areas I don't see myself using them as much.

With that said, these samplers are ideal for just that - a little peek into what you could be getting without a commitment to something you end up feeling isn't for you. (This should probably have had a St. Patrick's theme, huh? I just realized that.)

It's unlikely I don't miss something in this review because there were tons of items in the sampler. I will try to focus mostly on my favorites while doing my best to get everyone.

Plated Meal Review: Thai Coconut Noodles

It's funny because these reviews are so backlogged that the meals have long since been cooked and eaten by the time they come up here. In fact, I have more meals coming next week from Plated and here I am talking about meals from the beginning of the month!

This meal was Thai Coconut Noodles with Basil and Kale - and it was delicious. One thing we have noticed with the pasta and rice dishes is that you get a ton when you order from Plated. However, often they start to get boring after a while so we decided to add tofu to this to give it a little bit of something extra (and also to make it more of a meal).
