Treatsie Review: April 2015

This is going to be a terrible review, because I have to admit something. I have a ridiculous Treatsie addiction. The reason the review will be terrible is because I didn't get pictures of the box, since I was so quick to tear the box open and start enjoying it!

So every month, before your subscription box ships, Treatsie also invites you to add on treats. I gave in this month and added a few as well, and the shipment notice came in about a week before it arrived. On scheduled delivery day, I waited quite impatiently. The FedEx driver didn't come until after 7 PM!!! I asked my husband every ten minutes if the box had come, but thankfully it finally did. At which point, I opened and split the box between us and started enjoying my portion. Only to realize I didn't have my camera.

One of this month's featured items were marshmallows between butter cookies and held together with caramel. Although this sounds yummy, these had gelatin and so they were taken to my husband's work with him to be given away.

Another of the featured item's was the PB&J chocolate bar, which is made with peanut praline and raspberry pate. I haven't tried this yet but it sounds fantastic and knowing Treatsie, it will be.

UrthBox Review: April 2015

I had signed up for the UrthBox special promotion a few months back and these boxes are so loaded it's ridiculous. With the move, though, it's a good time for it to be coming to an end for us, because we were just saying that we have too much stuff!

This is only a small selection of the extremely full box. This box was quite heavy on the kale, which isn't a favorite in this house, but there were still some awesome finds. In particular, I will be looking into buying more from Pretzel Perfection!

Orange Glad Review: April 2015

Well, this is ridiculous. This box is too good to exist, I think. I have to warn you that if you try Orange Glad, you won't be able to stop ordering from them. Unless you simply hate joy.

The first item in the box was a pack of Dreams Come Chew from QUIN. This is the second item I've tried from QUIN, but this is the first item in all the snack boxes that inspired me to order more. I bought two full-size bags of this after sampling it, because it's that good. I'm actually a big fan of Starburst, but since they contain gelatin, I don't eat them. QUIN's Dreams Come Chew is handmade vegan Starburst basically and it's amazing.

Then there were chocolate chip butter biscuits. They came broken, sadly, but that's okay, because they didn't last long enough to need to be in one piece. Wow, these are awesome, and wow, Orange Glad just really knows how to pack a box of happy treats.

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review: April 2015

I realized after receiving my Love with Food box that people felt this was a bit short on snacks. I suppose that's true, since usually there are more items, but these were bigger than a lot of what we normally receive, so maybe that's why? Either way, I actually think this is my favorite box since I like almost everything in it, as opposed to the sort of hit and miss history I have with Love with Food. While I definitely consider it a worthwhile subscription, I do find that there are snacks each month that don't appeal to me. This one was pretty solid overall, on the other hand.

The first two items were popcorn chips, which is a really interesting new snack. We received kettle and white cheddar flavors, and I am happy with those two flavors. Two of our favorite snacks are kettle chips and Smartfood, so these are a great way to try something new that also isn't so new it feels odd.

Graze Box Review: April 19

I feel like this is turning into a food blog lately, since most of the reviews are of cooking products or snack subscription boxes. I think it's mostly because of timing - the geeky stuff comes at the end of the month and food at the beginning. In addition, since we've cut back on subscriptions, the food is one of the only consistent deliveries we still have, since it doesn't need to be packed!!

This was probably the Graze Box I liked the least overall in my subscription with them, but it's still a good box. When they can make a bad box that is still good, it's a sign of the quality of the subscription.

Nature Box Review: April 2015

Oh, I love my Nature Box - and the cashews are back! We received a hefty haul this time around, because my husband wanted to double up on his beloved cashews.

There were seven packs in this box and I am ashamed to admit that most of them are gone. The first three bags included a bag of Salted Caramel Pretzel Pops, which we still have and they're good, but not as good as other snacks.

We also received Blueberry Greek Yogurt Pretzels, which are my favorite, I think. This box, which comes monthly, was polished off nearly in a weekend and these were the first to go. We got the box in the morning and I finished this bag that night. They're really good, so don't judge me.

This time, we ordered two bags of Jalapeno Cashews and I had a bunch, but they were gone fast, too. My husband looks forward to these so much!

Something Snacks Review: April 2015

Oh, wow, this was a delight! Although there were two items I sadly couldn't eat, the rest more than made up for it! Something Snacks is a great subscription box, because they do a good job balancing your comfort foods with something unique each month. While I like to be adventurous, it can be tough when I have restrictions on what I will eat, and it really isn't fun to spend money only to receive things you can't try.

The first item was a GIANT Easter Egg shortbread cookie. And really, can shortbread cookies ever be bad? That was followed up by potato chips, which are like a drug to my husband. So cookies and chips - already an excellent box!

Nibblr Box Review: April 17

Doesn't it just figure? I decide to slow my subscriptions and cut back, making Nibblr a monthly box instead of biweekly, and they send me the best box ever! ;) Seriously all four snacks in this box were fabulous and if they were to offer bigger sizes, I would sign up just to get all four of these in bigger versions.

We received Chocolate Cherry Jubilee, Cocoa Nuts, Apple of My Pie, and Salt and Pepper Cashews.

Nibblr Review: April 10

I love my Nibblr subscription, but I have discovered one thing I would like to see from them in the future. When new snacks are added, it would be nice to receive an email so you can go in and update your preferences. Since I didn't know they added a bunch of beet-based snacks - and I really dislike beets - I only found out when they were sent to me. :/

Suffice it to say, we did not eat the beet snack. Neither of us could force ourselves to try it, although we are normally adventurous about food. We have a lot of snacks now, though, and we just didn't want it taking up space so we passed it along.

On the other hand, I love the Cheddy at the Ready and my husband and I polished these off quickly! You can never go wrong with cheesy snacks.

Candy Adriatico Review: March 2015

When Candy Adriatico reached out to me a while ago about reviewing their subscription box, I was interested but wary. I have had inconsistent success with international foods, mainly because of the ingredients. I had no idea what to expect from foods from Eastern Europe, since I don't know a great deal about the region (although it's one of the places on the absolute top of my must-see travel list).

I really enjoyed my first box and so I was excited to see what was in store for March! Because of issues with shipments, this one actually shipped before I had the February box in hand (not anyone's fault - just the slow nature of customs).

KarePax Review: March 2015

Earlier in the year, KarePax was just getting started and they allowed a bunch of bloggers to test them out before they were officially operating. This made a lot of sense from their point of view, because it gave them a few months to get feedback, generate interest and reviews, and best of all, make adjustments if there were any issues. I had tried their subscription box out and loved it

KarePax is a really unique subscription service, because they send you a big box of snacks from all over the world, but they also send you comic books. I love this mix. There are tons of snack boxes, including snacks from every part of the globe, but KarePax includes comics and those are hard to come by unless you get them randomly in the geek subscription boxes. The comics you get from KarePax are also indie comics or lesser known titles, so you aren't just seeing more Star Wars comics. As fans of comics AND food, this was obviously a good fit for my husband and me. KarePax is also a responsive company, so they are able to make adjustments (like when we can't eat products because we don't eat meat).

The first items in the box were chips (well, crisps as they're British) and my husband was SO happy about this - until he realized he can't eat any of the three flavors. One was prawn cocktail (of course - whenever we travel to the UK, we always wonder why anyone eats these), another was roast chicken, and a third was pork. I will say that it's nice that the British flavors source meat from British companies and farms and that they don't load the chips with fake meat made from preservatives, but that still doesn't mean we can eat them! :) I am sure Crafty or her husband will be happy to try these out, though!

Fit Snack Review: March 2015

Although I'm not always one for "healthy" snacks (I tend to eat like a child, I admit), I have been very impressed by Fit Snack, since they always pack their boxes so full and the snacks are often tasty, while still being healthy.

This month wasn't my favorite, because I couldn't eat half of the items but I did reach out to Fit Snack, since they're usually very responsive to customers, to see if there was a way to set up my account to include only items that were vegetarian/vegan. I haven't heard back yet, but as soon as I do, I will let you all know! (I am actually pausing a ton of my subs for a couple months due to the move, but I look forward to going back to this as soon as I am settled.)

The first item I saw was beef jerky, so obviously I couldn't eat that. I'm sure it's good if you eat beef, but it will be passed along to someone who does.

Graze Review: April 1

I always enjoy my Graze box deliveries! This month, there was a real mix and that was exciting.

On the top layer, we received Fiery Seeds, which were spicy sunflower and pumpkin seeds. This was least favorite, only because there were a ton of seeds and I have a lot of snacks now! We also received Thai Sweet Chili Bites, which are soy crackers with sweet chili dip and these were AWESOME! My husband and I fought over finishing them!

There was a pack of Lemon Drizzle Flapjack. Graze includes Flapjacks a lot and this was such a nice "it's almost spring" treat! They were refreshing and sweet.

The last snack on the top layer was White Choc Raspberry Cheesecake, a mix of white chocolate, hazelnuts, and raspberry cranberries. Trust me - this tastes as good as it sounds!!

The bottom tier included Key Lime Pie, which has become a favorite (mini meringues, vanilla cookies, and lime raisins), and Punchy Protein Nuts, a mix of pistachios, almonds, and chili lime cashews. I loved this, but I barely got any before my husband took it and finished it off!

I've enjoyed Garden of England before - a mix of dried apples, mini strawberries, and black currants. It was good and less sweet than the other sweet snacks, so I liked the balance.

The last snack was Tomato & Basil Pizza, which is another I only tried quickly before my husband stole it. This was a mix of tomato breadsticks, basil crunchini, and cheesy cashews.

Treatsie Review: March 2015

Treatsie makes me very happy and I get so excited when the boxes are on their way! This month's box was no exception.

The first item was a bag of chocolate-covered macaroons from Stay Sweet Macs. I love chocolate and I love macaroons, so these were awesome!

Urthbox Review: March 2015

I had signed up for Urthbox when they were offering a deal, so I got the most for the lowest price, but I can't even believe how packed this month's box was! I really don't even know where to start.

The good news is that there was only one item we couldn't eat, which is pretty awesome! These were some energy gummies, and even if they didn't have gelatin, I likely wouldn't have eaten them anyway so no worries there.

I'm just going to try to list it all, because there was SO MUCH STUFF!! We got two bags of Banana Brittle, as well as two bags of No Oatmeal Cookie mix, from Urban Remedy. I have had a gift card here for a while but I haven't tried any of their foods yet, so I am very excited about this.

Nature Box Review: March 2015 (#2)

I had thought I misordered since there were no Jalapeno Cashews in my March Nature Box, so I accidentally ordered a second box this month only to discover they're just out right now. Now I have a lot of extra snacks, so I am skipping April.

Nibblr Box Review: March 27

Nibblr Box is always a fun and welcome surprise in the mail. This box included three snacks we had seen before, including two favorites, and one new one that we really liked.

The first two snacks were Harvest Blend and Copa Cabana Rama. Harvest Blend is a mix of pumpkin cookies, pumpkin seeds, and pecans and it's such a tasty snack, especially for fall. I know it's spring now, but this is a great farewell snack as we move into the treats of summer - which Copa Cabana Rama really gets down! This one is a mix of banana chips, dried mango and pineapple, and macadamia nuts. The only problem with this one is that it could use more nuts, but it's a really yummy and sweet snack.

Something Snacks Review: March 2015

I love the entire concept of Something Snacks, because I get a lot of snack subscription boxes, but this one is unique. They offer a mix of things you know, things you might be willing to try, and things that are new and different.

This box was really great to share with my husband, because it was well mixed between sweet and savory snacks. He's also a lot less adventurous about snacks than I am, so while I will try anything, he tends to stick to things he already knows he likes.

This month's theme was St. Patrick's Day, so the snacks were mainly Irish or green. Some may have been a stretch, but it's really hard to theme every snack!

My husband tried the potato chips first (crisps if they are British, but clearly they are not made in Britain since they say chips). These were salt and vinegar, a flavor I really don't like, so he got them all to himself. He said they were heavier on the vinegar than he's used to, but he still ate the bag quite fast so it couldn't have bothered him too much!

Hip Humanitarian Review: March 2015

The Hip Humanitarian provides a monthly subscription box of ethically sourced items based on a different theme. This month's theme was the Foodie Box, so everything was based around food.

I liked this box better than the first two months, although I always like food. I'm still not sure I can honestly say the value exists in this box, but I have a subscription for a few more months.

I don't know why all these photos have a blue-green tint...

Love with Food Review: March 2015

I am generally always happy with my Love with Food subscription box, although last month, they included Pork Clouds. This month was better in that every item was vegan. On the other hand, I didn't really love any of the things in this box. It's still a worthwhile subscription, since it's not too expensive, they give back to people in need, and you will always get something you'll enjoy even if you don't love it.

I was very happy to get more Hemp Hearts in this box, because I have been trying to use them a lot more and I get them a lot in subscription boxes. We also received roasted chickpeas, which my husband will eat but they're fairly bland. I would like to get one of the flavors for something like this, because just salted means they don't have much extra taste.
