On with the Show!

This week has been extremely busy and exciting. The kids' school play is quickly approaching. This past week was what is called "tech week." During tech week, the cast and crew spend many hours perfecting their performances, making sure their costumes are set for the show, and forming an even tighter bond with each other.

Tech week began with the costume parade. The cast came in full costume so that the director and costume committee (that's me) could approve or make changes to the costumes. This year the costumes required me to do very little, which was nice, since I am adjusting to not being at play practice every night due to my work schedule. Thankfully the biggest alterations I have made are adjusting the straps of a dress and adding feather plumes to the berets used for the actors who are part of the prologue. The costumes feature neon tee-shirts, bright colored plastic sunglasses, and berets with feather plumes. With an 80's feel to the costumes, there is no shortage of bright colors.

Little Lace Box Canvas Print Review

People love to complain. I work in customer service, so I know this, and I also know that customers tend to believe they're always right. Oftentimes, they just aren't, but you can't really say that, but I kind of wish you could. Anyway, Little Lace Box has had a heck of a few months because some people just aren't happy with them. I have no desire to minimize anyone's experience, but I just don't see it because I've enjoyed my Little Lace Box subscription. To each his own, though. 

One of the items in the last month's box was a canvas print. It wasn't technically in the box since it had to be shipped separately, but this is such a nice addition - a valuable work of art for your walls using your own photography. It sounds like it's been a bit of a nightmare for Little Lace Box - between people complaining that they can't choose a picture, that the process is too complicated, and then not being able to follow the directions. In a recent email, it sounds like a lot of people uploaded the wrong things. I know computers are complicated and I definitely get that. I wasn't sure I did it right, either, but my box arrived and it seems I did. I also have to say that this was far from complicated. I think the entire process took me ten minutes. Maybe. 

Prospurly Review: April 2015

Prospurly is one of the new kids in the subscription box world. Their mission is to provide quality items that help you live a happier life. It's not a cheap subscription, but they promise to make up for it with high quality items. 

The first box came well packaged and is very pretty. The info card was attached to the box itself and everything is detailed on the back. This is Prospurly's first box. 

Crafty's Son Makes His First Communion

I was raised Catholic. Two months after I was born, I was baptized. In the Catholic Church, baptism is the first sacrament of seven that individuals celebrate. Since both my husband and I were raised Catholic, we made the decision to raise our children Catholic as well; this meant they, too, were baptized months after birth. We also made the choice to send them to Catholic school, but eventually decided to give them an option.

When our middle son was given the choice between public and parochial school, he asked one question: “If we go to public school, can we still learn about God?” The answer was “No,” so off they went to parochial school.

Two years ago, our daughter, who was in second grade at the time, received two more sacraments: First Penance and First Holy Communion. About a month ago, our middle child, our eight-year-old son, made his First Penance as well. Now it is time for him to receive his First Holy Communion. In the coming weeks, we will begin preparing him, as well as our home, for this exciting event in his life.

FabFitFun Review: Spring 2015

FabFitFun is a quarterly lifestyle subscription box of beauty, fashion, food, and fitness items. Each box is very likely to include items that more than meet the value of what you paid - and the items you won't use are generally of high quality and can be gifted. What I personally like is that although I cannot find anything official saying FabFitFun only sources cruelty-free items, they have consistently done so and that means a lot to me. 

Goal Check-in: January

Since we just started the blog up at the end of December, we didn't really establish our goals in a post yet. So this is both a review of January's goals and how we did. Starting February, we will open and close the month with posts like this.
